Coaching and Mentoring

An increased emphasis on both personalisation of learning and a trend towards individuals taking responsibility for their own development at work have meant that both coaching and mentoring have grown in popularity in recent years. Although they share much in common, they are distinctly different learning experiences, each appropriate for its own particular circumstance. Coaching is concerned primarily with teaching new skills on a one-to-one basis, whilst mentoring is more concerned with providing on-the-job support.
